Becoming involved in the life of the church is a wonderful way to connect with others, grow in your faith, and make a positive impact. Here are some ways to get started:

1. Volunteer Opportunities

Help with community outreach programs, such as our cooling center, food box distributions, or clothing closet.
Serve during worship services as an usher, greeter, or part of the music ministry.
Support youth and children’s ministries by teaching Sunday School or assisting with events.

2. Join a Ministry or Small Group

Fellowship Groups: Build friendships and grow in faith with others.
Bible Studies: Deepen your understanding of God’s Word.
Service Ministries: Participate in missions and outreach efforts.

3. Events and Special Projects

Attend or assist with events like family festivals, trunk-or-treat, or community meals.

Steps to Volunteer with First United Methodist Church of Mesa

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! We’re excited to have you join our mission to serve God and our community. We offer two levels of volunteering based on the nature of the work.

Here’s how to get started:

1. General Volunteers

If you plan to volunteer in areas where you will not be working directly with children, the process is simple:

Step 1: Fill out our General Volunteer Interest Form.
Step 2: Our team will contact you with current opportunities and next steps.

2. Volunteers Working with Children or in the Outreach Center

To ensure the safety of all, volunteers working with children or in our Outreach Center must complete a screening process through Safe Gatherings.

Steps to Become a Screened Volunteer:

Sign Up for Safe Gatherings: Visit Safe Gatherings to register.
Complete the Process:
- Take a short online training.
- Complete a background check.
- Provide references.
Request Reimbursement: After completion, you can request reimbursement of up to $40 by contacting the church office.
Get Started: Once approved, you’ll be ready to volunteer with our children’s programs or Outreach Center.
