Notes from the Bench

All Saints Sunday

Prelude: “Shall We Gather at the River?” by Dale Wood

Written by Robert Lowry in 1864, this beloved hymn looks forward to the day when we will be reunited with the saints who have gone before us. Dale Wood’s flowing organ setting is a fitting way to begin All Saints Sunday, as we remember loved ones and celebrate the hope of eternal life.

Postlude: “Grand Choeur” by Théodore Salomé

Théodore Salomé was a 19th-century French organist and composer who served at La Trinité in Paris, playing an organ built by the celebrated Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. A grand chœur, or “grand chorus,” is a bold, celebratory style of organ music.

Its joyful sound and lively fugue offers a fitting close to All Saints Sunday, celebrating the promise that death does not have the final word.

During the Anthem, the Children's Choir will sing I Sing God Walks with Me - Kornelis. With our organist Dr. Ashley Strawser.

Worship Service will also include hymns For All the Saints (vss. 1,2,4 & 6), Come, We That Love the Lord, and Ye Servants of God.

Come join us at 9:00 a.m. as we Worship Together this Sunday. We hope something in this music and message uplifts and strengthen your spirit. You are always welcome here.
