June 21st marks the 4th Sunday after Pentecost. This week, in the sermon series, "The Wrestler", Rev. Dr. Sam Parkes' sermon " God is Greater (The G.O.A.T.) " will focus on Isaiah 40:28-31 and John 1:6-12, 29.
Notes from the Bench
This Sunday, we welcome guest organist Johnson Joseph Jeyakumar, who will share his own arrangements of The Love of God is Greater Far, and How Great Thou Art. These beloved hymns remind us of God's immeasurable love, Christ's saving grace, and the majesty of our Creator.
The music beautifully complements our beloved Rock's sermon's message, "Greater Is He That Is in Me," and our congregational song, "Greater Is He That Is in Thee." Together, the hymns and sermon point us to the power and presence of God working within us—greater than any challenge we face. As we conclude worship with How Great Thou Art, may our hearts be filled with gratitude and praise for our great and faithful God.
How Great Thou Art began as a Swedish poem written after a dramatic thunderstorm gave way to peaceful skies and birdsong. Through translations into several languages, it eventually reached English missionary Stuart K. Hine, who crafted the version we sing today. Popularized by Billy Graham crusades and soloist George Beverly Shea, it remains one of Christianity's most beloved hymns, celebrating God's greatness in creation, salvation, and the hope of Christ's return.
Come join us at 9:00 a.m. as we Worship Together this Sunday. We hope something in this music and message uplifts and strengthens your spirit. You are always welcome here.
