August 23, 2026 – "Crowded Table" – Rev. Dr. Sam Parkes

August 23rd marks the 13th Sunday after Pentecost. This week, in the sermon series,

"Crowded Table", Rev. Dr. Sam Parkes' sermon "You Are a Member of One Another" will focus on Rom.12:1–8.

We come to church as consumers — to receive, to be fed, to have our needs

met — and then drive our thirty minutes home. The transaction is complete until

next week. The church becomes a service we use rather than a body we belong

to.

Paul’s vision is not a collection of individuals who happen to worship in

the same building. It is a body where each member belongs to every other

one — practically, specifically, with particular gifts deployed in particular

service. You are not a spectator here. You are a member.

We welcome organist Ashley Strawser as she begins our service with the prelude music: Meditation on "Prelude in Bb" arr. Clara Schumann.

Worship Service will also include the hymns Praise To The Lord The Almighty, Father, I Adore You, and Take My Life And Let It Be. The Anthem, Sing, Shout, Praise the Lord!, will be performed by Pepper Choplin.

During the Offertory, we will hear Song "Fugue in Bb" by C. Schumann. May today's music inspire gratitude, hope, and trust in the God who continues to guide us.
