August 2, 2026 – "Crowded Table" – Rev. Dr. Sam Parkes

August 2nd marks the 10th Sunday after Pentecost. This week, in the sermon series,

"Crowded Table", Rev. Dr. Sam Parkes' sermon "Everybody Eats" will focus on

Matthew 14:13-21.

We live in a world of carefully managed scarcity — not enough time, money, or room

— and we have learned to protect what little we have rather than share it, because

sharing feels like losing. Jesus takes what is insufficient, gives thanks anyway, breaks it, and distributes it until everyone has enough and the leftovers embarrass the original calculation. The table is not a reward for those who deserve it. It is the place where God’s abundance makes a liar out of our scarcity.

We welcome guest organist Bonnie Loney as she begins our service with the prelude music: Meditation on "Toccatina on "Of for a Thousand Tongues to Sing" by Alfred V. Fedak.

Worship Service will also include the hymns O For A Thousand Tongues vss. 1-5 and 7, You Satisfy the Hungry Heart , Take Our Bread and Tell Me The Stories of Jesus. The Anthem, Peace Like A River by Jay Althouse will be performed by Lynette Lewis and Maddie Mehan duet.

During the Offertory, we will hear Song Without Words by W. S. Lloyd Webber.
