July 27, 2025 – “Faces of Our Faith: Lydia” – Dr. Sam Parkes

This week we honored both the comforting image of Christ as our Shepherd and the sacred role of the family—however it’s formed. Whether you joined us in person, online, or found this later, welcome. We’re glad you’re here.

This week’s message explored the story of Lydia in Acts 16:11–15, 40—a woman of influence and faith whose open heart and home became a gateway for the spread of the gospel. Like Lydia, we are called to be attentive to God’s leading, ready to respond when the Spirit speaks, and willing to offer hospitality to others in Christ’s name.

The service also celebrated the “quiet saints” among us—those who faithfully serve without fanfare, caring for the sick, visiting the lonely, listening with compassion, and embodying Christ’s love in simple but powerful ways. These individuals remind us that God often works most profoundly through humble, steady acts of kindness.

The challenge was to live with Lydia’s openness and the quiet saints’ steadfastness, making space in our lives for God to work through us. By doing so, we become vessels of grace, extending welcome and encouragement to all who cross our paths.
