Safe Sanctuaries Training: Protecting Our Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults This course equips all staff and volunteers at First United Methodist Church of Mesa with the knowledge, policies, and practices needed to create a safe, welcoming, and protective environment for children, youth, and vulnerable adults. Participants will learn: The purpose and goals of Safe Sanctuaries Standards for supervision, visibility, and interaction Volunteer requirements, background checks, and the Six-Month Rule Policies for transportation, offsite activities, and vulnerable adult ministry Emergency, medical, fire, and lockdown procedures Mandatory reporting responsibilities under Arizona law Inclusion policies that affirm the sacred worth of all people, including LGBT+ individuals By completing this training, you will be prepared to serve with confidence, compassion, and accountability—ensuring that every child, youth, and vulnerable adult feels safe, valued, and protected in our community of faith
